Introduction

The aim of this call is the selection process of a candidate to fill a position as Technical Engineer / Technical Manager.

Functions

The software engineer will contribute to several space research projects in the field of cosmology and gravitational waves. In accordance with your training and knowledge, the tasks to be performed may include the development and improvement of software for:

  • Cosmological simulations
  • Simulation of astronomical images
  • Future telescopes and space missions and the tools for their development
  • Reduction, calibration and analysis of astronomical data
  • He or she will contribute to the development of the data reduction and analysis of the Euclid mission’s pipeline, as part of the Euclid Earth Segment, led by ICE-CSIC and IEEC.
  • He or she will also carry out tasks related to the development of data analysis techniques that will allow us to characterise and split up environment contributions in high precision measurements for gravitational wave detection experiments. This tasks are part of the activities related to the developments for the LISA mission, led by ICE-CSIC and IEEC.

Requirements and selection criteria

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree, degree in Physics, Software Engineering, Telecommunications or similar.

The following aspects will be considered desirable merits:

  • Coneixements en la reducció, calibració i/o anàlisi de dades científiques
  • Bons coneixements d'anglès
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming
  • Python, C++ programming languages
  • Version management with git
  • Willingness to learn outside the comfort zone
  • Knowledge of astronomy
  • Knowledge of reduction, calibration and/or analysis of scientific data
  • Good command of English
